Children's lessons
Group and 1:1 lessons for children, from first splash to confident swimmer.
Class structure
Maximum 6 children per class. For Goldfish 2 standard and below, we aim for a 1:3 teacher-to-swimmer ratio with teachers and assistant teachers in the water. Each session has a poolside supervisor. All non-swimmer classes wear armbands or floatation aids; we supply all other equipment.
Children must wear a hat in the pool — these can be bought poolside for £5, or bring your own. Children under 12 must be accompanied to the centre by a parent or carer who stays for the duration of the lesson.

Starfish
Ages 1–3
Parent and child class. Foundations of swimming through songs, games and activities.
Stanley Seals 1/2
Ages 3–5 new to swimming
Building water confidence with full floatation aids. Out of depth.
Stanley Seals 3/4
Ages 3–5 with some confidence
Progressing from full floatation to partial floatation.
Octopus 1
Age 5+ new to swimming
Water confidence and basic skills with floatation aids.
Octopus 2/3
Age 5+ confident in water
Reducing floatation aids, building independent movement.
Goldfish 1/2
Can swim 10m unaided on front and back
Refining front crawl and backstroke. Introducing breaststroke.
Goldfish 3
Can swim 20m unaided
Lengths-based lessons, teacher out of water.
Angelfish 1 & 2/3
Can swim 40m continuously
Good style with basic breaststroke.
Shark 1/2
Can swim 100m continuously
All three strokes with good technique.
Shark 3
Can swim 200m across three strokes
Plus basic butterfly.
Rookie Lifeguard
Shark 1/2+ level
Alternative class. Water safety and basic lifesaving skills.
