Terms and conditions
Booking, payment, cancellation and behaviour at Brighton Swimming Centre.
New bookings
To book, call 01273 434400 or email admin@brightonswimmingschool.com. After booking you'll receive a confirmation email — please check the details and confirm they're correct.
Re-booking
We offer existing customers priority re-booking for upcoming terms. We reserve the right to modify dates, times, locations, classes or fees.
Teachers and classes
We aim to keep the same teacher across a term but reserve the right to change teachers due to unforeseen circumstances. We reserve the right to cancel classes if attendance falls below a viable level — if we cancel, we'll offer an alternative or issue credit.
Payments
We accept all major debit and credit cards (except American Express) and cash. Payment can be made by phone (01273 434400), in the office, or poolside.
Cancellations and refunds
- We do not offer refunds before, during, or after a course has finished
- Credits or refunds may be issued at management discretion in exceptional circumstances (e.g. long-term medical issues with a doctor's note)
- We do not refund classes cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. snow, pool closure, technical issues) — we'll try to reschedule
Cancellation policy for Lane Swimming, Lane Lights and Splash & Play
- Cancellation more than 24 hours before: free reschedule to another available session
- Cancellation less than 12 hours before: charged full price, no reschedule
- No-shows: charged full price
- If we cancel a session, we'll offer an alternative or credit
Catch-up classes
Due to limited availability, we no longer offer catch-up lessons. Customers can attend our Teacher Training Lessons (TTL) free of charge as a top-up.
Medical information
Please tell us at booking about any medical conditions (asthma, epilepsy, allergies, learning differences, hearing or mobility). If a condition changes during the term, tell us straight away. All medical information is kept confidential. Inhalers must be brought poolside, given to the teacher, and clearly labelled with the swimmer's full name. For gastric illness: please don't swim for 5 days after symptoms have stopped. Please don't eat within an hour of a lesson.
At the pool
- Outdoor shoes are not permitted poolside
- All swimmers must wear a swimming hat
- No food or drink poolside
- Parents or guardians must remain in the building during a child's lesson
- Children 8+ change in their own gender-specific changing room and may change unaccompanied
- Children under 8 must be accompanied by a parent or carer and use that carer's gender changing room
Lost property
Lost property is checked at the end of every session and kept poolside or in the office. Unclaimed items are kept until the end of the term, then donated or discarded.
Parking
On-site parking is limited and available after 5pm weekdays and all day at weekends. Additional parking is available on the entrance road next to Brighton College Nursery (Mon–Fri after 5pm, weekends and school holidays). On-street parking is available locally. Free parking can be found on Wilsons Avenue, 5–10 minutes' walk. Parking is at your own risk.
Complaints
Most issues are best resolved informally with the poolside supervisor. For formal complaints, email admin@brightonswimmingschool.com or write to: Administration Department, Brighton Swimming Centre, Eastern Road, Brighton, BN2 5JJ. We'll acknowledge in writing within 7 working days and respond within 25 working days.
For complaints, see our full Complaints Policy.
